Hi.

Welcome to the Lifgun-Blog. I am Markus Moser and i document my adventures in sailing around the globe. Now i’m getting ready for the Ostar race 2020!

Building a boat is like building a house…

Building a boat is like building a house…

It was a rather fast drive down to Slovenia. A negative PCR test in the pocket and a departure at 4.30 am in Zurich. Arrived at 11 am in Jesenice at the yard. It was a kind of longing which overwhelmed me and the desire to see the state of the boat was just too big. However, if you ever have painted a wall, the build a boat follows the same rules. It’s a lot of preparation work (like covering the floors, buying the paint, sanding the wall, put on the first layer of paint, sanding again and, and, and….) before you get to the end, the final paint job is only a couple of percent oof the whole work. I would say, Lifgun is now in the phase of the second time sanding, which means soon it will go very fast and then she will be ready for to sail (please note that I’m calling her since now Lifgun too..). Anyways, you’ll find some pics of the actual status below. In general, all the main elements are in (heating, genset, watermaker, oceanvolt engines, battery racks, all the B&G equipment, all the cZone elements) and connected. Also part of the interior fit out is already done. In the meantime Lifgun is painted and the final works will start tomorrow.

A sail in 23 knots of breeze on Saturday with the hull #1 was totally cool and showed me once again, that as soon as I’m on the water, I’m getting relaxed within minutes. That’s why I’m doing this. Check out the footage below and you will understand everything….
