Entering the Bay of Biscay

Entering the Bay of Biscay

Hi friends,
after crossing a no wind zone we are now back on track. With 25 knots of wind from south we are running northbound towards UK. A couple of hours ago we entered the Bay of Biscay, which is for every sailor an iconic place to be… I think I will discover the nice side of the bay, at least this time. The cargo ship traffic is gone we are alone out here. It’s gray and the nights are extremely long – from 5.30 pm till 8 am. It’s amazing how well this boat is sailing under all different conditions…and it’s cool to have a heating aboard. We are eating miles with average speed of maybe 9 knots and in 3 hours it’s already dark again. The heavy weather jib is a great additional piece of sail, right now I’m using this jib together with the full main…. Which is awesome. To be honest it’s also a bit of boring because if the boat is adjusted once, then you just let her run….nothing more to do. I’m using this time to sleep and to listen audibles...  Okay, I also play with the Expedition Software to figure out which one the fastest way to Plymouth will be, calculating different options and trying to learn how to interpret weather files…..  And then I have this AST Iridium Certus unit….which is awesome. Not only for to download weather files, no I’m also able to make WhatsApp calls and texting around…))) The world is a village…))
