Hi.

Welcome to the Lifgun-Blog. I am Markus Moser and i document my adventures in sailing around the globe. Now i’m getting ready for the Ostar race 2020!

A next step ahead.....

A next step ahead.....

Lifgun is safe in Kolding (Denmark) for winter storage. An awesome north Atlantic trip during the summer was bringing her from Plymouth to Kolding. It was the best fun part in this 2020 year…and it was exactly the right moment to get her out of UK and in to Denmark. Lifgun was accompany myself for the last 8 years….we were sailing all over the Baltic Sea, Scotland, the Med, Atlantic, around Africa, she was with me when we passed the Gulf of Aden and also back from Turkey to Denmark. She is an awesome boat, fast, reliable, a beauty and trustworthy! Over the years many improvements have been made and in the meantime, she is a really cool offshore racer. The Plan was to sail with her the Ostar race…this plan is for now cancelled (or at least postponed) because of the COVID crisis and to be honest, I also don’t believe in the planned restart in May 2021. During these 8 years I was doing a lot of long offshore trips with Lifgun and during these sails you always have time to think what you would do better if you could. Within the last 8 years and thousands of sailed miles this list was growing…and yes all sailors always looking also on other boats…Finally I was falling over an awesome new concept from a new founded Slovenian Design Team, which were developing a fast and reliable cruiser with some really outstanding genes ….Marko Pas and Miha Breskvar have been working on a 50 feet boat for quite a while, when I was visiting the small shipyard (landlocked in Slovenia) first time, the Hull #1 was almost finished. At that time I was already breeding for at least 5 months over the plans…an get confidence into the concept. Let me list below the bullet points  which finally made me to go with (or for) a Pegasus 50 :

1.)   No aft cabins, these radical changes of layout were allowing Marko and Miha to design a nice hull shape a safe cockpit and enough storage space.

2.)   Kind of deck salon. I was spending so much time downstairs in the last 8 years, that this was one of the big wishes from my side – a sheltered inside space with a view to the outside! Btw, if you look to the latest generation of IMOCAS, the all have a kind of deck salon concept…

3.)   A sheltered cockpit with a fixed dodger / sprayhood. This is on long trips key, as more shelter as better!

4.)   A solid made boat, but fast. Pegasus 50 is only around 12 tons because of the extended use of carbon fibre, this is making her fast!

I was sailing for 4 days with the #1 ….and this was really mind blowing. These are the news….the new Lifgun is now in production and I’ll keep you updated with all the news about the building process until she should be delivered somewhen in June 2021….

December 26’th landlocked in Zurich Switzerland
